Girl's Weekend

This past weekend, I went to my friend's house an hour away. Her parents were out of town, so we dog-sat and held down the fort ;) (or at least the full bar in the basement and the hot tub outside).

It was just her and my one other good friend - so the three of us. It reminded me of how great of a time you can have without going out (and spending lots of $$$), meeting guys, or doing anything extravagant at all.

She lives "over the river and through the woods" so we did drive to town to go to the mall, but other than that we had such a blast hanging at the house, catching up, playing with her dog, being silly, and eating & drinking massive amounts.

One of the biggest things I miss from being in college, which I've definitely discussed on here before, is the transition of living 5 seconds away from all your best friends to.... an hour, two, three, four...eight - you get the point.

Being together all weekend long and riding together to get smoothies, laying on the couch to watch a movie, showing each other YouTube videos, walking the dog around the neighborhood, helping concoct amazing mojitos, all getting ready in the same bathroom, those are the "small things" I miss! (Ok, ok, maybe not sharing a bathroom).

Usually when I meet  up with friends now, it's for dinner or going out or for one specific event, since there's not a lot of spare time in the 9-5 world. But what I miss most are the little moments of crying laughing at horrible TV shows, experimenting with a new recipe in someone's kitchen, a late night FroYo run, someone to go to Walmart with, or just talking shit on someone's bed together. Honestly, that's what I'm looking so forward to when I move out and live with or close to friends again, which seems so silly.

Sometimes the best weekends are the ones where you don't plan anything at all -- besides spending 3 days with the people you love.

It's the little things people.
